About · age 12

Hi, I'mAdrian.

I'm Adrian. I'm 12, and I've been programming since I was 8. I started with Scratch, moved to Python and JavaScript, and then got curious about what a computer is doing in the half-second before Windows shows up. That question turned into BoltOS.

The longer version

I like building things from the bottom up: a bootloader before a kernel, a kernel before a desktop, a voxel engine where every texture is generated in code. I also like building tools that help other kids start coding, like CosmicCode and NovaCode.

When I'm not in a debugger I'm usually with my guinea pigs, which you can probably tell from the project names.

The project I'm proudest of is BoltOS. The first repo went up on June 15, 2026. Today it has its own network stack, compilers and a desktop with 43 apps, and it runs DOOM.

Right now

Building
More drivers and a faster compositor for BoltOS
Learning
Rust, and how production schedulers really work
Reading
The OSDev wiki and Intel's x86 manual, volume 3
Listening to
The guinea pigs, mostly. They are loud.

Setup

Editor
VS Code, with CosmicCode installed, obviously
OS
Windows 11 and Pop!_OS
Emulators
QEMU and VirtualBox, OVMF for UEFI
Toolchain
msys2, clang / ld.lld, NASM, .NET 9, JDK 21

Toolbox

What I write in.

The main language of each project I started in 2026. C wins because BoltOS took four repos to get right.

  • C4
  • TypeScript2
  • HTML1
  • Java1
  • C#1
  • Python1
  • VBScript1
  • Batchfile1

Repos per main language on GitHub, 2026, excluding forks and templates. BoltOS also has 870 lines of x86-64 assembly.

In memory

Fiona

Fiona was my guinea pig for three wonderful years. She was energetic, cuddly and full of life. She loved fresh water, exploring, and her cage mate Lucy. I built a small website to remember her.

Though small in size, Fiona's heart was immense.

Every project with a guinea pig in it is a little bit for her. Click to pet.

Timeline

How I got here.

  1. BoltOS passes 125 commits

A browser with its own DOM, CSS and JavaScript engine, a Python interpreter, C/C++/C# compilers, Windows .exe support, a WPA2 Wi-Fi stack and real DOOM.

    boltos
  2. CosmicCode

A VS Code extension where a robot buddy turns coding XP into Roblox minutes.

  3. GuineaPig Desktop for Windows

A C# desktop pet that sleeps, wanders, purrs and gets hungry every morning.

  4. Shify

Run .sh files on Windows with a double-click, like any program.

  5. First BoltOS commit

The first repo: an operating system made completely from scratch in C.

  6. GuineaBrowser 1.1.5

The biggest update yet: new homepage, standalone build, settings panel, and the source goes public.

Say hi.

Want to talk about operating systems, guinea pigs or teaching kids to code? Those are my three favourite subjects.
